Another Island of the Marquesas for another hotel project counting 20 bungalows, the Nuku Hiva Pearl Lodge, this hotel overlooks the bay and the village of Taihoae.
Here, the common areas were built in the lower part of the hillside. The visitor is led to discover the bungalows between the vegetation as he climbs to the top of the site.
Thus, each pavilion is perfectly concealed in the vegetation and embellished with a privative view on the bay. The original vegetation has been preserved to the maximum.
As for the Hiva oa Pearl Lodge, the different volumes were covered with wooden shingles and all the works were made from native materials from the Marquesas Islands (wood, stone and river pebbles, braided bamboo), and local craftsmen also participated in the general embellishment, sculptures on bungalows columns facade, various interior decorative panels, volcanic stone carving and tapas*.
This hotel was built at the same time as that of Hiva oa for 13 months.
* Tapas: traditional designs on beaten wood bark.
